Current Rates for Refuse/Recycling:

As of 1/1/2024 the rate is $660.00/year or $165.00/quarter.

Low-Income Seniors may qualify for a discount of $30.00 per quarter (not to exceed $120.00 for the year) if they meet the following criteria:

• Are sixty-five (65) years of age or older as of January 1, 2024.

• Are the deeded owner of the property, you reside at the property, and you are the person primarily responsible for paying the Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling Fee to the Township

• Have a total 2023 gross annual household income of $33,500 or less for a single person, or $41,500 or less as a married couple

***Important note: To avoid a 10% penalty, please pay the amount billed each quarter ($165.00) until your application is approved. Once approved, your credit will appear on the quarterly bill that is generated after the credit has been applied.

First quarter bills are mailed the first week in January for the current year. The bill is one flat rate every quarter, and residents have the option of paying for the entire year by January 31 or in quarterly installments. The remaining quarterly installments are mailed the beginning of April, July, and October.

Payments must be made within 30 days of the date of the bill or a 10% penalty will be applied.  Checks and money orders made payable to South Whitehall Township may be mailed to or paid in person at 4444 Walbert Ave, Allentown, PA 18104. 

Notice: Refuse payments, along with water and sewer, can be made online through Citizen Self Service.

Citizen Self Service

Citizen Self Service is a portal that gives residents of South Whitehall Township the ability to pay utility bills by credit card, eCheck, and PayPal. Once you create an account, you can link your Water, Sewer, and Refuse accounts, add bills to your cart, and check out online. You can pay multiple bills at once, up to $500 with a $3.39 fee per transaction for credit card or by PayPal or a $1.73 per transaction for eCheck. You currently may pre-pay for your utility bills through the CSS Payment Portal after adding the bill to the cart and editing the bill payment amount. There will be a $36 fee assessed for returned payments that will be added to your bill in the event of insufficient funds or closed/wrong accounts.  Additionally, in the portal you can view your utility usage by viewing a digital copy of your bill and opt in to receive your utility bills by email. PAYMENTS MAY ALSO BE MADE IN PERSON AT THE TOWNSHIP BUILDING. CASH OR CREDIT CARDS ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTED AT THE TOWNSHIP OFFICES. CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ARE ACCEPTED.
