SWT Summer Recreational Camp: General Program & Hiring Information

• Camp is 8-weeks, Monday- Friday from 9:00am- 3:00pm
  • Daily Drop-off is NO EARLIER than 9:00am.
  • Daily Drop-Off is NO LATER than 3:00pm.
• Eligible Campers
  • MUST be an SWT Resident OR a Non-Resident Residing in the Parkland School District
  • Ages 6- 12 yrs. old; Must have completed Kindergarten AND be 6 years old. May not turn 13 prior to August 1st of the current year
• Camp Structure Details:
  • Camp is primarily OUTSIDE, with some indoor access. 
  • Camp activities may include; structured games/activities and open play time on the playground equipment, sport fields, gymnasium (during inclement weather), and crafts.
  • On-site visits may include; visiting activities and instructors, ice cream trucks, SWT Fire, Police, and Public Works, and more.
  • Lunch is not provided.
    • Campers must bring a packed a lunch daily that does not need to be refrigerated.
  • Daily attendance- there is no minimum attendance required.
    • If you know your child will be absent, please let the counselors at your site know. 
• Staffing Information:
  • Camper to Counselor Ratio goal is approximately 1-10.
  • There are Site Supervisors (Head Counselors) and Regular Counselors at each site daily.
  • SWT Recreation Department Staff include the: Parks & Recreation Manager, Summer Camp Supervisor, and a Department Intern or Floating Site Supervisor (staff rotate through each site)
  • WE HIRE Counselors EVERY YEAR! See hiring details below
• General Registration Information:
  • Registration opens early March of each calendar year
    • SWT Residents are given a Priority Registration Period
    • Non-Residents are able to register for any remaining spots following that Period
  • Registration is Online through our Recreation Portal. All registrants must have an account in the portal.
  • PRIOR TO REGISTRATION
    • Create New Accounts; New accounts must be approved to verify residency and may take 24 hrs. To prevent Registration Delays, create new accounts prior to registration. 
    • Check Existing Accounts; check your login, your residency is accurate, and that you are included in the Parkland SD Group.
  • Registration Fees
    • NOTE: Registration Fees are likely to increase for Summer 2025 due to wage and supply expense increases.
    • Registration Fees dependent on Residency. (SWT Residents have a discounted rate).
    • Refunds or Registration Change requests must be made in writing, prior to the deadline advertised each year (2025 date TBD)

Summer Camp Counselors:

• Summer Camp Counselors have the best hours and the most fun!
• Must be 16 years old
• Site Supervisor/Head Counselor applicants must be 18 years old preferably with 1 yr. experience as a summer camp counselor.

 Counselors in Training (CITs): Under 16 but interested in someday being a Camp Counselor!

• Become a Counselor in Training (CIT) and be an important part of our team!
• This is a volunteer position for those 14+ years old who are interested in training to be a counselor.
