In 1983, a community program called Chec√Mate was developed and put in place.  The program enabled residents to report suspicious activity or crimes without providing their personal information.  Upon joining a crime watch group residents receive an identification card with a unique Chec√Mate number.  This number can be used to report a non-emergency incident.  When the resident calls the Lehigh County Communications Center non-emergency phone number, (610) 437-5252, they simply provide the dispatcher with their Chec√Mate number.

The Che√Mate program remains in existence today and continues to provide residents with a way to report suspicious activity anonymously.

Note:  Che√Mate numbers cannot be used when calling 9-1-1.
