EARTH DAY EVENT UPDATE (3-31-2020) – With the federal stay-at-home guidelines being extended through April 30th, we regret to inform you that our Earth Day event has been cancelled. Please remember, it is still okay (and healthy) to get outside, take a walk and enjoy the great outdoors. With that being said, in celebration of Earth Days 50th Anniversary, we encourage you to still get outdoors on April 25th and clean up a local park while practicing social distancing and wearing protective gloves. A BIG thank you to all who were planning to attend our Earth Day event!
The first Earth Day celebration was held on April 22, 1970. The idea was to raise awareness about our role in protecting our natural world. Now, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we are looking for community members who would like to give back. This event will not be a simple trash clean up here in South Whitehall Township, we will be painting old swing-set posts, spreading mulch, planting flowers and beautifying our park system! And yes, we may pick up a little trash along the way too…
If you are able and interested in joining us for our 50th anniversary of Earth Day, please ‘register’ through our online system at Southwhitehall.recdesk.com/Community/Program. Registration is not required but it will help us plan our efforts for the day.
