Coronavirus Statement
Parks and Recreation Services
South Whitehall Township
March 17, 2020

In response to the rapidly changing dynamic of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Township is temporarily modifying some of the ways business is conducted. Rest assured that during this unprecedented time, the Township continues to be committed to providing the community with exceptional service.

In an effort to keep our residents safe and to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Township will be closing all public playground equipment within your park system. For your own safety, we ask that you do not use public swing sets, sliding boards, etc. The Township is also not accepting pavilion rental requests for dates prior to May 8, 2020 and is encouraging the community to refrain from organized activities in the parks. Residents may still access trails and open space for passive recreation. We encourage you to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing while enjoying our park system during this time.

We will also be providing full refunds for any program which is cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus. The Township would like to thank you for your cooperation and we hope that you and your family stay happy and healthy!

UPDATE March 16, 2020 – all programs and events that were scheduled to take place between March 16th – and April 13th have been cancelled.  We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you at our other programs and events throughout the year!

UPDATE April 2, 2020 – As of today all township basketball courts will temporarily have hoop blocks installed to help promote social distancing and prevent the spread of the coronavirus. We hope everyone continues to utilize our parks, trails and open space while following the recommended CDC guidelines.

South Whitehall Township provides our residents with year-round opportunities for leisure and recreational activities. We have 202 acres of parkland at twenty-two locations throughout the Township. These parks may range anywhere in size from a half-acre neighborhood playground to over 114 acres at Covered Bridge Park, our community park. There are numerous playgrounds, athletic fields, sport courts, picnic facilities, and open space within our park system for all to enjoy. In addition to our beautiful parks, we offer a myriad of different programs and events throughout the year for all ages.

Mission Statement:

The South Whitehall Township Parks and Recreation Department strives to enhance the quality of life to all citizens and visitors by providing quality facilities, open space and diverse recreation programs for people of all ages and abilities.
