Winchester West Water Station Work
On Monday, March 4, 2019, construction work will begin on Walbert Avenue east from Wethersfield Drive to 4141 Walbert Avenue. The Township’s Contractor, Custer Excavating from Palmyra, PA, will be installing a new 12-inch water main along Walbert Avenue and demolishing the existing water booster station serving Winchester West located on Wethersfield Drive. The work is expected to be completed by April 1, 2019. The purpose of this project is to eliminate the Winchester West Booster Station and extend the service area for the new larger water booster station constructed farther east along Walbert Avenue for the new “Hills” subdivision. Residents should expect an increase in water pressure to a maximum of approximately 90 psi. Please note that building codes require the installation of a pressure reducing valve in the home when pressures exceed 60 psi.
Residents should expect some temporary water service interruptions during construction. All efforts will be made to minimize the water service interruptions. Residents can expect road lane restrictions on Wethersfield Drive during normal working hours, which will be 7am to 5pm weekdays. Please notify the Township Office if you have any special needs, such as visiting nurse, home kidney dialysis, etc. where you will need uninterrupted water service.
South Whitehall Township thanks you in advance for your cooperation during this construction season for the betterment of our Township. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Township Office at 610-398-0401 from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
