Mikayla’s Voice Tri for Inclusion® | 9:00 AM
WHAT: Inclusive triathlon for children of ALL abilities
WHEN: Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 9:00am
WHERE: Parkland High School
Next Saturday there will be no sidelines in South Whitehall Township. When the horn blows to start Mikayla’s Voice fifth annual Tri for Inclusion® children and young adults of ALL abilities from across the Lehigh Valley will enter the pool at Parkland High School. After swimming 3 laps (75 yards), triathletes will bike 2 miles, and run half a mile to the finish line. Competitive and recreational athletes, first time triathletes, and those challenged with physical, intellectual, and multiple disabilities race together side-by-side in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event proving that it’s always possible to include everyone. Kimberly Resh, Executive Director at Mikayla’s Voice, expresses her gratitude, “This amazing opportunity would not be possible without the support of the entire community.”
“Here at South Whitehall we’re committed to making this community a wonderful, safe, and enjoyable place to live…working to make sure that everybody is included and knows that they have a place,” explains Tori Morgan, President of the South Whitehall Township (SWT) Board of Commissioners. Greenawalds Fire/Police join SWT Public Works and SWT Police Department to detour all traffic while bikers are on the racecourse. Cetronia Ambulance provides emergency medical services and Northwest Swim Club staffs the pool with lifeguards to ensure swimmers’ safety.
