In partnership with the Wildlands Conservancy, South Whitehall’s Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce the following nature-based educational programs at Covered Bridge Park. Take advantage of these opportunities for you and your family to connect with nature right in your back yard!

Introduction to Fishing – Thursday, April 1 (6:00pm)

Bring your rod or use one of ours. Kids don’t need a fishing license to catch this well-stocked stream. Learn the basics during this naturalist-led program. We’ll supply the bait and the hot cocoa! Enter through main entrance of Covered Bridge Park, and meet at Pavilion #2. Cost is $5.00

Wildflower I.D. Walk – Thursday, May 19 (6:00pm)

Enjoy the height of spring wildflower season, when the woods and fields of Covered Bridge Park are ablaze with color. We’ll take a leisurely stroll and learn about native plants. Fruit & water after the hike. Meet at Pavilion #1. Enter through the main entrance of Covered Bridge Park. Cost is $5.00.


Creek Crawl and Frog Fiesta –  Thursday, June 15 (6:00pm)

Wade through the Jordan Creek looking for the wriggly critters that make it their home. Wear appropriate footwear that can get wet. No sandals. Lemonade and iced tea after our hike. Meet at Pavilion #2 in Covered Bridge Park. Enter through main park entrance. Cost is $5.00.

Hoot Hike –  Thursday, July 13 (8:30pm)

Discover the night sounds of Covered Bridge Park and get close and personal with one of our education owls. Join us for a short walk to call some local owl species. Bring a headlamp or flashlight. Pavilion #1. Enter through main park entrance. Cost is $5.00.
