Racoon Found in Township Tested Positive for Rabies

A raccoon that was found in a trap in the 2100 block of Scherer Rd in South Whitehall Township last week has tested positive for rabies.

Please feed your pets inside, cover your trash and recycling cans and make sure your pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations. Do not handle or feed wild animals. Keep your pets under direct supervision so they do not come in contact with wild animals.

The public is reminded to call for police assistance with any wild animal that appears to be sick or injured and to avoid contact with anything that appears to be sick or injured.
