Building Code Appeals Board

Description of the Board

The Building Code Appeals Board is currently a seven-member Board. It is comprised of volunteers with qualifications in the building, plumbing, electrical, structural engineering, and/or architectural fields. The Board of Commissioners appoints them and they serve without remuneration. There are currently no openings available on this Board. The Building Code Appeals Board is a quasi-judicial Board, and hears appeals related to the building, plumbing and electrical codes of the Township. The Board currently has Attorney Larry Fox as its Solicitor.

Appeals are made via our application form, which can be obtained at the Municipal Building or from our Forms Page. Applications should be sent to the Inspections Clerk. No contact should be made with the Board members prior to the hearing, except through the Board’s Solicitor. The Building Code Appeals Board generally meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., in the Township Municipal Building. Applications for an appeal should be received at the Municipal Building no later than noon, fourteen (14) days prior to the meeting date.

Fire Code Appeals Board

Description of the Board

The Fire Code Appeals Board is currently a five-member Board. It is comprised of volunteers with qualifications in the fire service and/or fire safety fields. The Board of Commissioners appoints them and they serve without remuneration. There are currently three openings available on this Board. The members of the Board are:

  • Manly H. Offutt, Jr, Chairman
  • Franklin Knauss

The FCAB is a quasi-judicial Board, and hears appeals related to the Fire Prevention Code of South Whitehall Township. An appeal may be initiated by contacting the SWT Fire Inspector.

The Fire Code Appeals Board generally meets on an as-needed basis.

Plumbers Licensing Board

Description of the Board

The Plumbers Licensing Board is currently a three-member Board. It is comprised of volunteers who are licensed master plumbers. The Board of Commissioners appoints them and they serve without remuneration. There are currently two openings available on this Board. The member of the Board is:

  • Joseph F. Rutz

The PLB administers the SWT plumbing-licensing program. They provide the examinations for new Journeyman and Master Plumber Licenses for SWT as well as hear any appeals relating to plumbing licenses.

The Plumbers Licensing Board will meet on an as-needed basis and all meetings will be advertised appropriately beforehand.
