SHADE TREE COMMISSION

The Landscape and Shade Tree Commission makes decisions about the planting or removal of trees that are located within the right-of-way area of a public street.

Currently we have one opening to be filled on the Landscape and Shade Tree Commission.  If you are interested in serving on this commission, scroll to the bottom of this page and click on FORMS, where the Volunteer Board Membership Application can be printed out.  Please complete and forward to South Whitehall Township, Attn:  Township Manager.

The Landscape and Shade Tree Commission makes decisions about the planting or removal of trees that are located within the right-of-way area of a public street.

The Landscape and Shade Tree Commission reviews all Shade Tree permit applications. The Landscape and Shade Tree Commission takes into consideration such things as: species of tree; obstructions in clear sight triangles; spacing between trees, known diseases of trees, etc. The Landscape and Shade Tree Commission will also provide recommendations on landscaping plans prepared for development projects.

The members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve as volunteers without pay. They normally meet at 10:00 a.m., on the fourth Monday of each month. Please see the meeting dates below for actual meeting dates.
